Trucks By Roger Alsop

The old Trucks always have something special, they look at least a little more human and have character

I painted this Bedford at Brett's garage at Guyhirn over a couple of mornings.

I saw the beginnings of this drawing from the train to Cambridge from King's Cross. All I could see was the blue van body with the text you can see. I made the rest of it up.

This is a Morris Commercial lorry. Nene Potatoes are based in Spalding but that's only down the road.

I don't think I've painted an S-type Bedford before although they were ubiquitous. I lived on Chase Street from age 4 to 16.

I got the original reference for this from Wisbech Museum. Frank Mason was a well-known Wisbech firm.

I saw this Dodge Weapons Carrier near Santa Cruz in California.

I painted this Volvo Titan in the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg. The lorries were very colourful but the cars were all black except for the Royal car which was dark green.

This MAN was drawn in the Museum in Augsburg. They had 9 colourful lorries.. This painted in one day.

This steam engine was painted from a photo over several days. I'd love to draw the original.

This was a Bofors gun on a Morris lorry. Painted over several days at the Firepower Museum in Woolwich.

This T34 was painted, I think in a day, at the Imperial War Museum. I was particularly pleased with the road wheels.

An Alvis Saracen painted at Firepower.

A Chevrolet '58 taken from a photo. It's been chopped and channelled a bit. Also the chassis has been lowered. .
