Collioure church

I went to Collioure for two reasons. I knew that Matisse and Derain painted there before the First World War and I also knew that Patrick O'Brian lived there. He corresponded with me by way of postcards and I wanted to pay homage to where he lived (he had recently died).

Serbia - Parage

Parage was a village planned by the Hapsburg regime on a grid system in the 19th century. I found the Serbian people to be very friendly. This was the Old Post Office.

Sea containers house and blackfriars bridge

I painted this over 20 years ago from the North Bank. I remember taking a decision to use white gouache. It seemed to me that the white of the boats and the wake needed to be prominent.
